Privacy and analytics
THIS SITE COUNTS VISITS, NOT VISITORS.
I keep a tally of which pages get opened so I know which work is worth writing up. That tally is anonymous and it stays that way: nothing is written to your device, there is no record of you to build up, and today’s visit is never joined to yesterday’s.
- Which pages were opened, and the order they were opened in during one visit.
- Which projects, roles and outbound links were opened.
- The domain that linked you here — google.com, linkedin.com — never the full address or any search terms.
- Whether the screen was a phone, tablet or desktop, and which browser family it ran.
- If a page breaks, the error and where in the code it came from — so I can fix it.
- No cookies. Nothing is written to your device at all — no cookies, no local storage, no session storage.
- No profile, no linking. There is no visitor record. Come back tomorrow and you are counted afresh — nothing exists to join the two visits.
- No fingerprinting. Screen size, window size, timezone, language and the full user-agent string are stripped out before anything is sent.
- No recordings. Session replay, heatmaps and scroll maps are all switched off.
- No advertising. None of this feeds ads, remarketing or audience-building, and none of it is sold or shared.
UK cookie law — regulation 6 of PECR — applies when a site stores information on your device or reads what is already there. This site does neither, so there is nothing to consent to and no banner to dismiss.
Since 5 February 2026 there has also been a statutory exception for first-party analytics used only to improve a site. This setup meets its conditions regardless: the numbers are used solely to improve this site, the results are aggregate and cannot identify anyone, and you can object at any time using the switch below.
The counting is done by PostHog, acting on my instructions and on EU servers. Your IP address is discarded the moment it arrives — it is never stored, and no location is derived from it.

Would rather not be counted? Turn it off and this browser stops sending anything. The choice is remembered in one small setting on your device — the only thing this site ever stores, and only because you asked for it.
If your browser already sends a Do Not Track signal, analytics is off and stays off — nothing to do here.
